Abstract

Typhoid fever is an acute infectious disease of the small intestine caused by food and drinks contaminated with Salmonella typhi bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of antibiotic drug use in typhoid fever patients, to determine the quantitative evaluation and qualitative evaluation of antibiotic use. This study is a descriptive study conducted retrospectively, the data used were from medical records at RSI Siti Khadijah for the period January-December 2022. The selected sample was 90 RMK with the highest incidence obtained in the age category of children and late adolescents. The profile of antibiotic use in this study was ceftriaxone as much as 64 (71.11%), ceftriaxone and thiamphenicol as much as 21 (23.33%), ciprofloxacin as much as 4 (4.44%) and ceftriaxone combination of ciprofloxacin as much as 1 (1.11%). It can be concluded from the ATC/DDD evaluation that the first DDD value of ceftriaxone was 74.19% DDD/1000 patient-days. Evaluation of the Gyssens method concluded that as many as 105 cases (93.75%) were included in category 0 (rational use of antibiotics).
