Abstract

The experimental design used in this study was Factorial Block Randomized Design consisting of two-factor of treatments with three replications for each treatment. The research objective was to find out the working capacity and yield of gadung slice from gadung slicer of KISS method based on crosscut angle at several disc rotational speeds The first factor treatment was disc rotational speed consisting of R\ (140 rpm), R2 (160 rpm) and R3 (180 rpm), and the second factor was crosscut angle consisting of S\ (0°), S2 (15°) and S3 (30°). The observed parameters were slice thickness, wholesome slice percentage, capacity and efficiency. The results showed that crosscut angle of 15° (S2) had provided thickness which was approximately close to theoretical thickness (2 mm) than that of 0° (Si) and 30° (S3) respectively. Rotational speed 160 rpm (R2) had produced the best yield of gadung slice percentage with magnitude of 90.46% than that of rotational speed 140 (Ri) rpm and 180 rpm (R3). The highest capacity had been produced by treatment combination of R3S3 (rotational speed 180 rpm and crosscut angle 30°) which was 183.76 kg/hour. Treatment combination of R3S3 (rotational speed 180 rpm and crosscut angle 30°) had provided the highest efficiency of 88.07%. The best treatment combination in term of gadung slice thickness which was approximately close to theoretical thickness was R2S2 (rotational speed 160 rpm and crosscut angle 15°)
