Abstract
The objective of this research was to understand the effect of differenttiming and frequency of fertilizer application on rice growth and yield at the internaland edge rows in the 4:1 Jajar Legowo cropping system. This research wasconducted from July to October 2016 in Pemulutan, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra,Indonesia. Each of the fertilizer and position treatments were replicated three timesand arranged in split plot experimental design. The main plot consisted of timing offertilizer application: T1= 15 DAP, T2= 30 DAP, T3= 45 DAP, T4= 15+30 DAP,T5= 15+45 DAP, T6= 30+45 DAP, T6= 30+45 DAP, T7= 15+30+45 DAP. Thesubplots were crop position: P1= edge row and P2= internal row. Results showedthat during vegetative stage, timing of fertilizer application affected crop heightwhich T1 produced the highest height (107,89 cm). T7 showed the highest result onweight of root (1402,5 g) and leaf dry weight (255,03 g) of crop biomass. While T6produced the highest of both weight and dry weight of stem ( 2073 g and 352,7 g).Crops at the edge rows showed the highest root weight (1246,7 g), stem weight(1806 g), root dry weight (313,4 g), stem dry weight (313 g) and leaf dry weight(237,33 g). In generative characters, T7 showed the highest yield weight of grainper panicle (4,63 g) with percentage of filled spikelet 89,44 %. Result of thisresearch showed that combination application of urea and NPKS fertilizer at15+30+45 DAP on the crops at the edge row produced the highest yield.
