Abstract
The losses in various sectors due to the influence of corrosion is very common, especially some parts of industrial ecjuipment that uses aluminum as the materials used in aluminum corrode rapidly forming aluminum oxide (AI2O3). However, corrosion decreases after a thin layer of oxide isformed. Crevice corrosion is a type of corrosion is an electrochemical process in the gaps or areas protected from the surface. This type is usually attacked at a place with a small volume such as holes, joints, cracks and others. Connection is one of the holts can cause the occurrence of crevice corrosion. This sludy was conducted to analyze the rate of crevice corrosion on aluminum metal bolt connections are given i n sea water media. Aluminum is a metal that is fairly corrosion resistant due to the presence of a thin layer of aluminum oxide which lowers the rate of corrosion. But, if given the gap andplaced in corrosive environments corrosion resist aluminum metal capabilities will decline. In this study the paramelers to be analyzed include: the value of the corrosion rate, the corrosion behavior of aluminum with aluminum connection and no connection.
