Abstract

The aims of this study to determine the relationship between dose of compost and two different doses of NPK fertilizers half recommended dosage and one recommended dosage. on ultisoi physical properties and growth of sweet corn (Zea mays sacharata Strut). The research was carried out in the Plot experiments in Agribusiness, Faculty of Agriculture from September 2010 to November 2010. Soil analysis were done at the Laboratory of physical and soil concervation of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. The method used in this study was is a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two treatments and tliree replicatioos. Two factors were compost with a dose of 0, 5, 10 and 15 ton/ha and combined with the recommended dose of NPK fertilizer and haif recommended dosage for sweet com The results showed that compost could improve soil physical properties, namely the water content, soil permeability and total pore space. But compost did not aftect and water content at field capacity. Afflication of did not improve soil physical properties. There was no combination effect of NPK and straw compost on soil physical porpsties.
