Abstract
The objective of the research was to investigate biological attributes of T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Bengkulu and from Pagaralam, and T. japonicum from Palembang on P. xylostella. The research was conducted on Entomological Laboratory, Plant Pest and Disease Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from February until May 2005. A copulated female parasitoid was infested on 50 eggs of P. xylostella daily. Developmental time from egg to adult emergence of T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Bengkulu was 8.15 days. The developmental of T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Pagaralam took 8.10 days, and the developmental of T. japonicum from Palembang took 8.62 days. Mean longevity of T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Bengkulu was 15.65 hours, T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Pagaralam was 14.87 hours, and T. japonicum from Palembang was 14.29 hours. Female completed oviposition within the first 2 hours of exposure to host and usually died within 18 hours. Sex ratio predominately female (95.36-97.09%). Eggs laid in average of 27.50 eggs per female on T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Bengkulu, 28.00 eggs per female on T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Pagaralam, and 25.60 eggs per female on T. japoncum from Palembang. Thus, T’oidea bactrae bactrae from Bengkulu was the best egg parasitoid that could parasitize and develope on the P. xylostella egg.
