Abstract

This study discusses the uneven number of foreign tourists in Indonesia, particularly in the Mandalika area. One of the main factors contributing to this is the underdeveloped infrastructure, making the area less capable of attracting more tourists. To address this issue, the study examines the cooperation between Indonesia, through the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in developing infrastructure in the Mandalika area. The study uses Robert Keohane's theory of international cooperation, which emphasizes the importance of shared interests and the distribution of benefits in interstate relations. The research method used is qualitative, with a descriptive approach to analyze the form of cooperation established between Indonesia and AIIB. The results show that this cooperation includes several key elements: (1) foreign loan funding for infrastructure development in Mandalika, (2) physical infrastructure construction aimed at enhancing the area's connectivity and appeal, (3) professional training provided to local workers to improve their skills, and (4) the transfer of technology and workforce from AIIB to Indonesia. Overall, this cooperation has accelerated the development process in Mandalika, particularly in terms of transportation and public service facilities. With this infrastructure improvement, Mandalika is expected to become a more competitive international tourist destination and attract more foreign tourists in the future.
