Abstract

Objective: The main effect of Gout Arthritis in the elderly is long-lasting joint pain and if not treated properly and quickly will cause progressive joint damage, deformity, disability, and death. One of the non-pharmacological therapies used is complementary therapy in the form of ergonomic gymnastics. Method: The research method is qualitative with a case study approach to three elderly clients with gout arthritis with joint pain problems, applying ergonomic gymnastics therapy which is carried out for 20 minutes once a day for five days Results: There are six health problems in the three elderly with gout arthritis with nursing problems with the main diagnosis of chronic pain. The results of the provision of ergonomic gymnastics therapy intervention showed that from the three elderly the level of pain decreased based on the Indonesian Nursing Outcome Standards (SLKI) the level of pain of Mrs. E, Mrs. Y, Mrs. H decreased, as evidenced by the three elderly saying that the pain was reduced, they could feel more relaxed, and the client's uric acid levels decreased. Conclusion: Ergonomic gymnastics therapy was given to the three elderly as a complementary therapy to reduce pain. Ergonomic gymnastics therapy is a gymnastics technique that puts great pressure on the respiratory tract, which can provide a sensation of heart massage to smooth the body's metabolic processes and make the body relax, thereby reducing pain in the elderly and increasing the process of reabsorption of uric acid in the body.
