Abstract

Chronic pain in cervical cancer patients can lead to increased morbidity and reduced quality of life if not properly managed. Pain experienced by cancer patients can be managed using pharmacological methods, such as medication, and non-pharmacological methods, including Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). SEFT therapy was chosen as an intervention because it utilizes the body's energy system to improve mental, emotional, and behavioral states, addressing both physical and psychological issues through three stages: set-up, tune-in, and tapping. The objective of this final scientific paper is to implement SEFT therapy for cervical cancer patients with chronic pain issues. This study employed qualitative method with a case study approach. The results indicated that the three managed patients felt calmer, more comfortable, relaxed, and reduced pain intensity from moderate pain (scale 4-5) to mild pain (scale 1-2) after undergoing SEFT therapy for three days. The set-up and tune-in stages of SEFT therapy, using positive suggestions and prayers, can induce relaxation and tranquility in the body, aiding in physical and emotional healing. The tapping stage, applying pressure on the body's meridian points, stimulates the release of endorphins, enkephalins, and dynorphins-natural pain-control and relaxation-inducing hormones helping patients to adapt to the pain they experience, thus improving their quality of life.
