Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a serious health problem because its presence is often unawareand can continue to get worse until it reaches a level that threatens the life of the sufferer. Every year hypertension cases in the world and even in Indonesia continue to increase.Uncontrolled high blood pressure will cause various complications such as heart failure,stroke, visual impairment, and chronic kidney failure. The high number of people with hypertension indicates the need for appropriate management both pharmacologically andnon-pharmacologically. Non- pharmacological therapy that can reduce blood pressure iscomplementary therapy, one of which known as herbal therapy by giving garlic boiled water. Objective: to figure out the results of the review of evidence-based nursing by giving garlicboiled water to families with hypertension. Method: descriptive qualitative methods with acase study approach and implementing nursing care according to the results of analyzing 10 research articles on three managed families. Result: The results of the assessment of thethree clients with hypertension were management problems ofacute pain, lack of knowledge, ineffective health management, readiness to increase knowledge and readiness to improvehealth management. Nonpharmacological management given was the treatment of garlicboiled water to reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The results showed that therewere changes in blood pressure before and after being given garlic boiled water in patients with hypertension. Conclusion: garlic boiled water was able to lower blood pressure inpeople with hypertension. Keywords: Nursing Care, Garlic, Hypertension, Family
