Abstract

Purpose of the research 1) to analyze the differences in the use of family labor before and after the fall in prices. 2) to analyze differences in the use of fertilizer before and after the fall in prices. 3) to analyze differences in farm income gum before and after the fall in prices. This study was conducted in Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra Province to take the District Payaraman, and subsequently taken Payaraman village and the village of Lubuk Bandung as a sample. The choice of location research done intentionally (purposive) on the basis that this location is predominantly doing rubber farming as the main source of livelihood besides rubber farmers in the village of Lubuk Bandung Payaraman and active program of plantation activities. These results indicate that the decline in selling prices of rubber greatly affect the allocation of labor, use of fertilizers, and revenue. The allocation of labor in the family farmer in rubber tapping activities, cleaning the garden and fertilization on average per year in the village of Lubuk Bandung Payaraman and before the fall in prices in the amount of 486.4 person-days per year and after the fall in prices in the amount of 423.43 HOK per year. Total use of fertilizer before the fall in prices in the village of Lubuk Bandung Payaraman and amounting to 43 810 per year while expanding arable after the fall in prices in the amount of 15 550 per cultivated area per year. The average value of the rubber farmers use fertilizer before the fall in prices is Rp. 1.80165 million per cultivated area per year and after the fall in prices is Rp. 702 600 per cultivated area per year. Rubber farmers' income before the fall in prices in the Village Payaraman and Lubuk Bandung is Rp. 69,303,761 per cultivated area per year and income after the fall in prices is Rp. 21,300,341 per cultivated area per year. The impact of the fall in prices force farmers to still be able to survive in circumstances of uncertainty. Revenues decreased mislead farmers struggled to meet their basic needs or to the production costs of rubber usahatanu them. With more spare time owned by farmers, farmers can use their spare time to look for additional work in order to increase revenue.
