Abstract

A sustainable financial system helps economies deal with today's environmental problems and challenges. Academics and policymakers around the world are interested in researching factors that can reduce environmental problems and improve financial development. The empirical test results indicate that in the period 2001 to 2020 there is a long-run and short-run influence between environmental taxes and financial inclusion as well as green investment that affects financial inclusion in the long run. There is also bi-directional causality between environmental taxes and financial inclusion in the long run and short run while economic growth has a bi-directional relationship with population growth in the short run. The results of the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) tend to support the hypothesis that environmental taxes and green investment play a role and have a relationship in promoting financial inclusion in Southeast Asian countries.
