Abstract

Background Autoimmune hyperthyroidism is a condition occurs due to hypersecretion of thyroid hormone production by the thyroid gland caused by autoimmune disorders. Anti-TPO antibodies are found in 80% of autoimmune hyperthyroid patients. There are only a few studies in Indonesia regarding anti-TPO levels in autoimmune hyperthyroid patients, especially in paediatric patients. Objective To determine trends in anti-TPO levels after receiving 6 months therapy and its correlation to the response to therapy in paediatric autoimmune hyperthyroid patients. Methods A retrospective cohort study to determine trends in anti-TPO levels at initial diagnosis and after 6 months of treatment and to see the response to therapy in paediatric autoimmune hyperthyroid patients Results The anti-TPO level of paediatric autoimmune hyperthyroid patients at RSMH Palembang when initially diagnosed was 630.10 IU/ml and there was a trend of decreasing anti-TPO levels after treatment for at least 6 months. There is a correlation between the trend of anti-TPO levels against FT3 and FT4 but no correlation in heart rate of paediatric autoimmune hyperthyroid patients. Conclusion There was a trend of decreasing anti-TPO levels after treatment for at least 6 months. Keywords TPO, Trend, Autoimmune Hyperthyroid
