Abstract
A Dimethyl Ether (DME) manufacturing plant with a capacity of 70,000 tons per year is planned to be established in 2029 at the Kaltim Methanol Industrial Area, Guntung Village, Bontang Utara District, East Kalimantan, covering an area of 3.5 hectares with a production capacity of 70,000 tons per year. The production process of Dimethyl Ether (DME) will be carried out through methanol dehydration using HZSM-5 Zeolite catalyst in a Multitubular Fixed Bed Reactor at a temperature of 300°C and a pressure of 10 bar. The synthesis process will yield Dimethyl Ether (DME) as the main product, with water as a byproduct. This plant will be a limited liability company (PT) with a line-and-staff organizational system, led by a CEO with 160 employees. Based on the economic analysis, the DME plant is deemed feasible to be established, with the following economic analysis: - Total Capital Investment = US $19,308,382.20 - Selling Price = US $150,776,450.59 - Total Production Cost = US $126,420,886.44 - Annual Cash Flow = US $18,453,014.46 - Pay Out Time = 0.993 years - Rate of Return on Investment = 88.30% - Discounted Cash Flow = 234.07% - Break-Even Point (BEP) = 38.96% - Service Life = 11 years Keywords: Dimethyl Ether (DME), Multitubular Fixed Bed Reactor, Limited Liability Company (PT)
