Abstract

Normalization in Seberang Ulu I District, Palembang City aims to overcome floods that occur in sections 1 and 2 of the Kubu River. Seberang Ulu I District has a channel that is unable to accommodate incoming flood discharge, so there is an overflow that can affect the quality of rice yields. This research was carried out by utilizing hydrological analysis and analysis using HEC-RAS software. The results of the study based on hydrological analysis with a suitability test concluded that the distribution to be used for the planned rainfall was a normal distribution because it had the smallest maximum Chi Squared (X2) value of all distributions. The flood discharge calculation used is a 5-year re-discharge. Flood discharge for a 5-year payback period is 60.78 m3/s. HEC-RAS analysis was carried out to see the condition of the overflow of the channel. Then normalization is carried out based on a 5-year disposal period, thus resulting in the dimensions of the channel plan used for normalization. After calculation with HEC-RAS, it was found that the channels analyzed with a 5-year discharge did not experience overflow. Thus, it was concluded that the normalized channel dimensions were based on calculations using a 5-year disposal period so that the planned channel could work in the best condition.
