Abstract

This research is a descriptive research that aims to find the reasoning ability in matrices after applying proof based learning in class XI IPA 7 at SMAN |] Palembang. Learning process a follows to the steps of proof based learning with 36 students as the subject in class XI IPA 7. Technique of collecting data in this research are written test that consist of five problems to measure reasoning ability of students. Student’s reasoning ability in this research is divided into 5 categories consisting of 4 students in the in very good category with the percentage is 11 %, 18 students in the good category with the percentage of 50 %, 4 students the in enough category with the percentage of 11%, 6 students in the low category with the percentage of 8 % and 3 students in very low category with the percentage of 8 %.
