Abstract

Background: Neck pain is one of the common musculoskeletal complaints experienced by workers due to non-ergonomic work posture and excessive gadget use duration. Neck pain can reduce productivity and quality of life. BPJS Kesehatan employees are at high risk of experiencing neck pain due to prolonged working hours and the use of gadgets as primary work tools. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach among administrative employees of BPJS Kesehatan Palembang from November 2023 to February 2024. The sample was selected using simple random sampling, resulting in 60 respondents. Primary data were collected using the Neck Disability Index (NDI) questionnaire and Rapid Office Strain Assessment (ROSA) assessment. Results: Most of the respondents reported experiencing mild neck pain, with the amount being 83.3%. No respondents reported very severe neck pain. The most severe pain was found on respondents within the age range 23-25 years old. There was no significant relationship between work posture (p=0.190) and the duration of gadget use (p=0.427) with neck pain intensity among BPJS employees in South Sumatera. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between work posture and the duration of gadget use with neck pain intensity among BPJS employees in South Sumatera. Keywords: Work Posture, Duration of Gadget Use, Neck Pain, BPJS Employees
