Abstract

Pemanfaatan sabut kelapa sebagai bioetanol merupakan solusi inovatif untuk mendapatkan nilai tambah dari limbah pertanian di wilayah sumatera selatan. Sabut kelapa memiliki kandungan lignin yang tinggi, sehingga memerlukan proses delignifikasi untuk meningkatkan ketersediaan selulosa yang dapat dihidrolisis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh waktu ozonolisis terhadap kadar lignin dan selulosa, volume bioetanol yang dihasilkan, serta pengaruh jumlah silika gel dalam proses adsorpsi bioetanol. Metode yang digunakan meliputi tahapan ozonolisis, hidrolisis, fermentasi, distilasi, dan adsorpsi dengan silika gel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ozonolisis selama 25 menit berhasil menurunkan kadar lignin sebesar 8,3% dan meningkatkan kadar selulosa sebesar 3,1%. Perlakuan ozonolisis yang optimal meningkatkan volume hingga 500 mL bioetanol setelah fermentasi selama 7 hari, dengan penambahan NaOH untuk menstabilkan pH pada 4,5. Penggunaan 10 gram silika gel putih selama 60 menit memberikan hasil kadar etanol sebesar 97% dari analisa GC-MS.
