Abstract

This purpose of this research is to analyze the potential application of SimCity as a physics learning media in class X, especially in renewable energy material. Using descriptive qualitative research and content analysis method, this research explores the features in SimCity game that can be utilized to teach renewable energy material. The results show that SimCity has various features that support learning, such as energy source selection, city statistics, and interaction panels, which help students in learning renewable energy. In addition, this study also found that the use of SimCity can help learners' critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills. However, the mathematical calculation aspect in the context of renewable energy still requires further development. This research is expected to contribute to the development of physics learning media that is integrated with technology and in accordance with the curriculum, as well as providing new insights for teachers in designing more effective and innovative learning. This research also includes an example of the application of SimCity in learning design.
