Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning learning model on the learning outcomes of class X students on the Periodic System of Elements material. This research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya in November of the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The variables in this research consist of the independent variable, namely Problem Based Learning and the dependent variable, namely student learning outcomes on the periodic system of elements material. The number of samples in this study was 66 students divided into control class (X.4) and experimental class (X.5) with 33 students in each class. The instrument used in this research was a test instrument (pre-test and post-test) with 20 questions in the form of multiple choice questions. Based on data analysis, the results showed that there was an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on the learning outcomes of class X students on the Periodic System of Elements material. This is based on the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test (Independent Sample T-test), which obtained a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which shows that student learning outcomes using the Problem Based learning model Learning is higher compared to using a direct learning model (Direct Instruction).
