Abstract

The aims of this research were to : (1) describe marketing channel of rice from farmer to the last consumer in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, (2) analyze the marketing efficiency rate of every marketing channels and marketing efficiency of marketing institutions in every marketing channels, and (3) to calculate the average of marketing institution’s rice stocks in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency. ARINDA rate This research had been conducted at Sumber Asri Village and Rejodadi Village in Buay Madang Timur District and also at Karang Sari Village in Belitang III District, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency ffom February 2014 to March 2014, which was selected purposively. Sample of farmers was selected used purposive sampling method and for sample of traders was selected used snowball sampling method. The collected data were primary data and secondary data. The results of this research showed that there are three channels of rice marketing in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, they are the first marketing channel (16,67 %) consist of farmer and collecting trader. Then second marketing channel (46,67 %) consist of farmer, collecting trader and retail trader and then third marketing channel (36,67 %) that consist of farmer, collecting trader, wholesaler and retail trader. The most eflcient marketing channel in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency is the first marketing channel (2,17 %), and then the second marketing channel (5,33%) and the last is the third marketing chanel (6,49 %). The most eficient marketing institutions is retail trader in the third marketing chanel (0,94 %), then collecting trader in the first marketing channel (2,17 %), then collecting trader in the second marketing channel (2,43 %), then collecting trader ini the third marketing channel (2,70 %), then wholesaler (2,85 %), and the last is retail trader in the second marketing channel (2,90 %). For the average of rice marketing institution’s stocks in OKU Timur Regency the collecting trader’s stocks are 2.674,96 kg/month, the wholesaler’s stocks are 34.270,50 kg/month and the retail trader’s stocks are 3.500,00 kg/month.
