Abstract

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that is commonly found in children. The treatment of epilepsy in children is still experiencing DRE (treatment failure). DRE can be predicted at the time of initial diagnosis with several factors. This study aims to analyze the relationship of EEG images and seizure types to the results of epilepsy treatment in children. The type of research used was observational analytic with a cross-sectional study design. The samples of this study were medical records and KSM Neurodiagnostic data for children with epilepsy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital in Marc-October 2024 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of the 61 epilepsy research samples that experienced OAE resistance in children >5 years was 39.1% and in children <5 years as much as 33.3%. The results of bivariate and multivariate analysis obtained that have a significant relationship with OAE resistance are structural etiology and more than one epileptiform focus. Factors that significantly affect uncontrolled seizures are basic rhythm slowing, occipital epileptiform, and central epileptiform. Factors contributing to OAE resistance in children with epilepsy are structural etiology and an electroencephalographic (EEG) picture of more than one epileptiform focus.
