Abstract

Musi Banyuasin is one of the regencies in South Sumatra province that is engaged in the agricultural sector. The leading commodity in Musi Banyuasin Regency is the duku plant. However, duku plants are not easy to cultivate, especially with the presence of diseases such as Ceratocystis. Ceratocystis is a fungus that causes wilt disease that threatens many forestry and annual plants. The spread of Ceratocystis disease can be through wounds on the trunk or roots due to the activity of pruning plants and transmission through root contact from diseased trees to healthy trees. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of plant variety diversity, the presence of insect and squirrel populations on the development and severity of Ceratocystis disease. This research was conducted on nine fields in Musi Banyuasin Regency starting from July until the end of 2024. The research used a plot line method with the determination of plots in this survey was carried out by taking five plots with a transect length criteria of 500 m, each plot has an area of 2 x 2 m for the seedling phase; 5 x 5 m for the sapling phase; 10 x 10 m for the pole phase and 20 x 20 m for the tree phase. The calculation of insect population was done by catching insects directly (Hand Collection). The calculation of the mammal population uses the reconnaissance transect method (Recce walk). The results showed that Lansium domesticum in healthy category gardens had an INP value below 100 while in moderate and severe category gardens the INP value ranged from 100 ≥ INP ≤ 250. The insect and squirrel populations found in each garden in Musi Banyuasin Regency were significantly different, where the most insects and squirrels were found in moderate and severe category gardens while in healthy gardens insects were rarely or not found.
