Abstract

Copper (Cu) is one of the essential nutrients needed by rice plants to accelerate the processes of photosynthesis, respiration, and pollen production. The objectives of this research are (1) To determine the copper nutrient content in the rice field soil, (2) To understand the influence of several soil chemical properties such as pH, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), and Organic Carbon on the availability of copper nutrients in the technical irrigation paddy fields in Purwodadi Village Belitang Mulya Subdistrict, East OKU Regency. This research was conducted from August to November 2024, located in the rice field area of the Agricultural Extension Work Area (WKPP) of Purwodadi Belitang Mulya Subdistrict, East OKU Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research method used a detailed survey method at a scale of 1:10,000. The area of the research rice fields is 18.34 ha, consisting of 6 different rice field blocks. The determination of sample collection points was done randomly based on farmers' practices in rice cultivation, which involved different types and doses of fertilizers. The research results show that (1) The copper nutrient content in the rice field soil has an average of 1.135 mg kg-1, which falls into the low category compared to the established threshold value of 2,7 mg kg-1, (2) Multiple linear regression tests indicate that the correlation of soil chemical properties (pH, CEC, Organic Carbon) with the available Cu content in the soil has a correlation value of 0,713, which is classified as a strong correlation. The values of pH and Organic Carbon (X1 and X3) have a significant influence on Y at a significance level of ˂ α = 0.05, while the CEC value does not have a significant influence at ˃ α = 0.05
