Abstract

The research was intended to evaluate the agronomic characteristics of Jatropha plant progeny from their parents and to study the effects of heterosis. This research was done at the Agro Teknologi Terpadu Village Bakung Subdistrict Indralaya Utara District Ogan Ilir. Implementation time from months of research starting in October 2009 to February 2010. Grenetic material used is 16 genotypes of Jatropha plant which consists of seven selfing and nine progeny. The design used in this research are randomized block design with three replications. Analysis of the data used for all parameters were observed by analysis of variance and simple linear correlation test. The results showed that the hybrid plant jatropha agronomic characteristics and potential for higher yields than their parents plant. Genotype Pontianak x Indralaya has the highest seed weight per plant is 325.06 grams per plant while genotypes Pidi have the lowest seed weight per plant is 78.42 grams per plant. Character number of bunch per plant samples show a strong correlation and a very significant effect on the yield. Genotype Pidi x Lampung showed the highest heterosis value for the characters of the fruit bunch per plant and seed weight per plant.
