Abstract
The objective of this research is to know the best of treatment of temperature and storaging period on seed viability. This research was conducted during July to September 2009 in Seed Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. The method of research used completely randomized design that consists of three treatments of temperature and four periods of storaging. The first faetors of temperature were 20 °C - 22 °C (S|), temperature 23 °C - 26 °C (S2), temperature 27 °C - 30 °C (S3). And the second faetor of storaging were 0 (Pi), 6 (P2), 12 (P3), 18 days (P4). The parameters observed were, seed moisture content (%), protein content (%), carbohydrate content(%), lipid content (%), electrical conduction, seed germination (%), germination uniformity (%), germination rate (per etmal), and seedling dried weight (gr). The result of this research showed that first germination is low, so cold temperature treatment (Sj) 6 days storaging contributed the best seed quality on the variable of moisture, protein content, carbohydrate content, lipid content, electrical conduction, seed germination, germination rate, and seedling dried weight.
