Abstract

Proses desulfurisasi konvensional membutuhkan bahan dalam jumlah besar. Hal ini menghadirkan tantangan yang signifikan untuk dikendalikan, yang keduanya berkontribusi pada biaya produksi yang lebih tinggi untuk bahan bakar diesel bersulfur rendah. Pemanfaatan sinar tampak merah, bentuk energi yang bersih dan ramah lingkungan yang dapat digunakan dalam kondisi operasi rendah, merupakan pengganti yang memadai untuk proses desulfurisasi minyak diesel yang menjanjikan. Potensi katalis metal untuk meningkatkan sifat sinar tampak merah dalam proses desulfurisasi telah diteliti. Proses desulfurisasi sinar tampak merah menunjukkan bahwa minyak diesel dapat dikurangi kandungan sulfurnya dalam kondisi operasi lingkungan. Hasil terbaik dicapai pada tinggi katalis 6 cm dan waktu iradiasi 25 jam dengan kandungan sulfur paling rendah yakni 737 ppm dari 1300 ppm. Metal timah secara signifikan meningkatkan energi foton, frekuensi, panjang gelombang, dan energi kinetik minimum cahaya tampak merah.
