Abstract
In the industrial sector, sorting products based on size is a crucial step to maintain production quality and efficiency. This research focuses on the design and development of a box sorting tool that operates automatically by detecting the length of objects. The tool is controlled by a Mitsubishi Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) type FX1N-10MR, which functions to receive data from length sensors and direct the boxes to the appropriate path based on the detected size. The use of a PLC offers advantages such as reliability and flexibility, as its programming can be tailored to the specific needs of each industry. The system is equipped with sensors that accurately detect the length of the boxes and actuators that move the boxes to predetermined locations. With a design that is both simple and efficient, this tool is expected to expedite the sorting process in factories and reduce dependence on manual labor. The results from testing show that this sorting tool is capable of sorting boxes with high and consistent accuracy. In other words, this tool has the potential to increase productivity and minimize sorting errors that typically occur when done manually.
