Abstract

This research aims to make the design of green open spaces on the main yard of Sriwijaya University campus in Inderalaya as a functional means of students activities and make new icon of Sriwijaya University as major university in South Sumatera. This research was conducted using method of observation and surveys to obtain, both of primary and secondary data. Primary data includes obtained the data from the survey and observation, while secondary data obtained from the study of existing literature and monographs of campus. The colletion data were than processed and analyzed to obtain a design of green open spaces that have social, conservation and aesthetic functions. Design of green open spaces is made in the form of 2D images, 3D and video application using ie: Realtime Landscaping Architect v6.02., Photoshop CS3, SAS Planet and Windows Movie Maker. Assessment of the result of this design is carried out through a questionnaire consisted of 30 respondents with a score of 1-5 that were analyzed by following criteria: very poor, poor, moderate, good and excellent. Results of the study design showed that the design of green open spaces has been approached very good and great expectation of respondents this design can be realized.
