Abstract

Red chili (capsicum annum l.) Is an important horticultural commodity in indonesia due to its economic value and nutritional content. However, production is often disrupted by pest attacks that affect yield quality and quantity. To overcome this problem, integrated pest management (ipm) is the main solution, including the use of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bacteria as a bioinsecticide. In the development of bioinsecticides, the utilization of natural materials such as onggok and oil palm cake has great potential. Onggok, the waste from making tapioca flour, is rich in carbohydrates (60-70%) that support bacterial growth in the fermentation process. This research was conducted in the phytopathology laboratory, plant protection study program, department of plant pests and diseases and applied in the Agriculture Training Center (ATC) garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used was a Cluster Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments including control. Observations were made weekly to assess arthropod populations. The results showed that bt application effectively reduced pest infestation without damaging the diversity of natural enemies and pollinators. The results showed that bt application of 5 isolates: MSP, SMR, DLKK1, C14 and KJ3R5 used as bioinsecticide active ingredients had no significant effect on the diversity of natural enemies and pollinators. For the sustainability of this technology, it is recommended to conduct further research on the impact of bt application on the ecosystem as a whole, including analysis of insect species after application and testing on other crops that are susceptible to pests. Socialization to farmers is also needed to increase the adoption of this environmentally friendly technology. In addition, research on possible pest resistance to bacillus thuringiensis should be considered to ensure its long-term effectiveness.
