Abstract

The research is located in Kapur IX District, Limapuluh Koto Regency, West Sumatra. Tectonically, the research area is in the Central Sumatra Sub-Basin and Lubuk Sikaping. The research aims to identify and assess geotourism potential and efforts to develop geosite potential. The research was carried out using preliminary study methods, field observations, laboratory analyis and methods Modified Geosite Assisstment Model (M-GAM). The use of research methods is divided into quantitative assessments, results of visitor questionnaires, mapping and direct observation at the research location. The results of the research review obtained seven locations geosite as follows: Samparandah Beangkat Waterfall, Ompang Godang, Lubna Beach, Sialang Batu, Lambah Aik Baths, Tanjung Gadang Waterfall, Karang Belah Cliff Peak. Geosite assessment consists of two main indicators including Main Value (MV) and Additional Value (AV)which will then be divided into 12 and 15 sub-indicators and then added with an important factor called impotence factor (Im). Finally, the assessment will produce seven geosites that have Main Value (MV) and Additional Value (AV). In he process of building geotourism development, it is necessary to improve infrastructure, involce local community outreach and prioritize the geological conditions of geotourism locations.
