Abstract
The objective of this research was to know the best effect of using organic fertilizer application to growth and yield of watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schard). This research was conducted from June to August 2014, at experimental field in Agriculture Faculty Sriwijaya University Indralaya. The method of this research used Complete Block Randomized Design (CBRD) which consisted of seven treatments, it was repeated three times, so there were 21 treatment units. They were control (K0), organic fertilizer of chicken's manure 15 ton ha-1 (KA1), organic fertilizer of chicken's manure 20 ton ha-1 (KA2), organic fertilizer of cow's manure 15 ton ha-¹ (KS1), organic fertilizer of cow's manure 20 ton ha-1 (KS2), palm oil empty bunch compost 15 ton ha-1 (KKS1), palm oil empty bunch compost 20 ton ha-1 (KKS2). Results of this research showed that the effect of using organic fertilizer of cow's manure 20 ton ha-1 (KS2) was very significant for fruit weight per plant and fruit diameter, significant for growth of female flower age. The effect of palm oil empty bunch compost 20 ton ha-1 (KKS2) was very significant for plant length. All of treatments were not significant for dissolved solid.
