Abstract

This thesis is entitled “the role of Partai Syarikat Islam Indonesia (PSII) in facing Malaise Crisis in Palembang in 1930-1940 (the contribution of the lesson of the eleventh grade students of senior high school Srijaya Negara Palembang)”. This study aimed to find out the development of PSII in palembang, to explain the role of PSII in facing Malaise crisis. This research used historical research. There are some steps of historical research including heuristic, criticize the source, interprate the data, historiography, economic approach, politic and social. PSII is the continuation of Sarekat Islam organization. Malaise crisis faced by people in 1930s effected on people’s economic, as well as Palembang did, PSII tried to make the group of the people that got the effect of the crisis by estabilishing labour organization and economic enterprise. One of the succesful ways of PSII is the estabilishment of economic enterprise rarely Centraal Pembelian Karet Rakyat (CPKR). This thesis is the contribution of the learn of history especialy about Partai Syarikat Islam Indonesia (PSII) in Palembang is the national movement era.
