Abstract

Energy sources used in adsorption cooling system is easily obtained like solar energy. This system of energy sources environmentally friendly and very economical. This research used the coolbox made from Styrofoam for storage of beverages with thermal energy sources such as solar energi and using methanol activated carbon as adsorbent and refrigerant combinations. To determine the cooling effect of the combination of methanol activated carbon and the effect of solar light intensity. First of all, assembly process of coolbox, then testing the coolbox for three days. From the test result with solar light intensity 393,4 W/m2 obtained the highest adsorber temperature is 61,4°C and the lowest evaporator temperature is 18,1 °C. While with 245,6 of solar light intensity obtained the highest adsorber temperature is 245,6 W/m2 and the lowest evaporator temperature is 19,8°C. The highest COP values is 0,547.
