Abstract

Schizoaffective type depression is a psychiatric disorder that combines a combination of symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders (affective). The main therapeutic regimen of this disorder consists of antipsychotics, antidepressants and mood stabilizers. The use of these drugs is often associated with the presence of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs). ADR can affect a patient's level of adherence to treatment. This study aims to analyze the relationship between Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) and treatment adherence in depressive schizoaffective patients. This research was conducted from November to December 2024 in the medical record room and Outpatient Installation of the Psychiatric Poly of Ernaldi Bahar Hospital, South Sumatra Province. The research design used is observational analysis using the Cross Sectional Study research design. Data was collected through medical records and interviews using questionnaires using the Naranjo Algorithm and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Data analysis was carried out using the chi-square test. Based on the results of the analysis, the majority of ADRs have a level of low probability (Possible) to possible (possible) of 37% with a high level of adherence to treatment of 47%. The results of the chi-square test analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the incidence of ADR and the level of patient treatment compliance (p < 0.023). These results suggest that monitoring of ADR and providing intensive education to patients to maintain the level of medication adherence.
