Abstract

Land scarcity in Indonesia has led to the construction of irregular building structures that are vulnerable to earthquakes. The purpose of this research is to analyze and compare the performance of regular and irregular building structures with the criterion of area 720 m² as high as 10 floors against seismic loads. The analysis process is also carried out on structures equipped with and without base isolators in the form of High Damping Rubber Bearings (HDRB). The analysis procedure was carried out using the Response Spectrum Analysis (RSA) method with the assistance of ETABS software, following SNI 1726:2019, SNI 1727:2020, and SNI 2847:2019 standards, as well as the Bridgestone base isolator specifications from 2022. The results showed that in the presence of HDRB base isolator components, there was an increase in structural performance from buildings without base isolators to buildings with base isolators in terms of structural period by 85.3-94.5%, base shear force by 31.7-34.4%, and deviation between floors by 73.93-75.53% in regular building types. Meanwhile, the irregular building experienced an increase in performance of 78.3-93.5% in structural period, 24.7-34.6% in base shear force, and 70.24-73.6% in deviation between floors. In addition, the value of building performance is demonstrated by fulfilling the deflection limit requirements for both regular and irregular structural elements. Based on this, the presence of HDRB components proved to be effective in enhancing the seismic performance of both regular and irregular buildings, although its effectiveness was slightly reduced in irregular structures.
