Abstract

This research was conducted on the existing primary carrier channel in the irrigation area of Dadahup Village, Dadahup District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. The existing primary carrier channel is not functioning properly and has caused several issues. These issues include the inability to effectively distribute water to the fields, which is due to the channel experiencing sedimentation caused by erosion and the growth of weeds around the primary carrier channel. In response to these problems, this study aims to analyze and redesign the existing primary carrier channel. The data used in this research consists of secondary data analyzed using a descriptive quantitative approach, with a literature review referring to the 2013 Irrigation Planning Criteria. Based on the analysis comparing the existing debit (Qe) and the planned debit (Qr), it was found that the capacity of all primary carrier channels is insufficient to accommodate the planned debit. Therefore, the redesign of the existing primary carrier channel dimensions is necessary to ensure it can handle the planned debit. The analysis results indicate that the dimensions of the primary carrier channel in Dadahup Village, Dadahup District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province should have the bottom width (b) of 0.65 m to 3.1 m, the slope (m) of 1–1.5, and the channel height (H) of 1.05 m to 1.84 m.
