Abstract

Ginger emprit (Zingiber officinale var. Amarum) has a sharp aroma and can be utilized in TBM oil palm plantations to increase the production of non-palm oil crops through a polyculture system. Siam weed plants can be used as liquid organic fertilizer to improve soil physical, biological, and chemical properties due to its high nutrient content. This study aims to evaluate the effect of siam weed LOF with different concentrations on the growth of ginger emprit in oil palm polyculture system. This study use the randomized block design (RBD) research method which consists of 6 treatments with 4 replication, each plot consists of 6 ginger plants that use OPEFB compost as much as 750 g/plant as basic fertilizer. So 144 ginger plants and 6 oil palm plants were obtained. The treatments used in this study were: P0 = Control, P1 = LOF siam weed 10%, P2 = LOF siam weed 20%, P3 = LOF siam weed 30%, P4 = LOF siam weed 40%, P5 = LOF siam weed 50%. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova (Analysis of Variance) test with F tables of 1% and 5%, and if the difference was obvious, it was continued with the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test to see the difference between treatments. The application of siam weed LOF at concentrations of 20%, 30%, and 50% gave significant responses to the growth of ginger emprit plants at 13 weeks after planting in a polyculture system with immature oil palm. The variables that showed significant responses included plant height, number of leaves, and leaf canopy area. The polyculture system of ginger emprit plants at 13 weeks after planting with immature oil palms did not affect the growth of several parts of oil palm plants, including the number of spear leaves, male flower clusters, and female flower clusters.
