Abstract

The complaints of dating violence experienced by adolescents have increased, including in Indonesia. Dating violence has negative impacts on adolescents physically, psychologically, sexually, and economically. Adolescence is a time when individuals undergo the process of maturation and become interested in the opposite sex, leading some adolescents to decide to date. Dating without boundaries has several impacts, including dating violence. Preventive measures include health education aimed at preventing dating violence. This study aims to determine the effect of health education using Visiga media on adolescents' knowledge for the prevention of dating violence. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a nonequivalent control group design. A total sample of 48 respondents was obtained through proportionate stratified random sampling. The results of the Paired T-test for the intervention group show that there is an effect of health education using Visiga media on adolescents' knowledge with a p-value = 0.000. The Wilcoxon test results indicate that there is an effect of health education using booklets on adolescents' knowledge with a p-value = 0.002. The Mann Whitney test results show that there is no significant difference in knowledge between the post-test of the intervention group and the control group, as evidenced by a p-value = 0.705. Visiga media and booklets are effective in delivering information, but Visiga media has a greater impact compared to booklets. Visiga media affects knowledge more because animated videos contain clear, accurate, and engaging information, along with the process of recalling while playing Jenga. Visiga media also involves a lot of sensing so that information is better understood and retained in memory. Visiga media can be an alternative for providing teenagers with more effective knowledge about preventing dating violence.
