Abstract

This research is entitled Empowerment of Farmer Groups Through Field Farmers (PPL) in Ulak Kerbau Baru Village, Tanjung Raja District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The problems raised in this study are how to empower farmer groups (PPL) through field agricultural extension workers and the constraints of field agricultural extension workers (PPL) in empowering farmer groups. The purpose of this study was to analyze the empowerment of farmer groups through Field Agricultural Extension in Ulak Kerbau Baru Village and to analyze constraints in empowering farmer groups through field agriculture instructors in the New Ulak Kerbau Village. This research is qualitative. In determining the informants used purposive, the aim is to obtain more detailed information in accordance with the problems of the researcher. The research strategy used was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation and documentation. The collected data was then analyzed using data analysis techniques and triangulation. The results showed that the empowerment of farmer groups through field agriculture instructors , namely, extension agents provided guidance with farmer groups through agricultural counseling aimed at increasing the knowledge, understanding and skills of farmer groups so that they could overcome the problems they faced without always relying on government. While the obstacles faced by agricultural extension workers in empowering farmer groups are the use of language, habits and awareness of farmer groups.
