Abstract

Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems due to significant physical and psychological changes, as well as inappropriate nutritional behavior. The habit of consuming fast food that is high in calories but low in nutrition, as well as low physical activity, contribute to nutritional problems and long-term health problems. This study aims to determine the relationship between fast food consumption habits and physical activity with nutritional status in adolescents. The design used in the study was an analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. This study was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya with a sample of 101 respondents using the proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Collection through direct weight and height measurements to determine nutritional status (BMI/U), and using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to determine fast food consumption habits and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire - Short Form (IPAQ-SF) to measure physical activity levels. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank test (a = 0.05). The results of the study showed a significant relationship between fast food consumption habits (p-value 0.001, p = 0.615) and physical activity (p- value = 0.001, p = 0.651) with nutritional status in adolescents. These results indicate that the higher the consumption of fast food and the lower the physical activity, the greater the risk of nutritional problems, such as overnutrition and obesity in adolescents. Therefore, more attention is needed from schools, parents, and adolescents themselves to form healthy eating patterns and increase physical activity in order to maintain the nutritional status of adolescents in the normal category.
