Abstract

This research examined the resilience of rice farm worker families in the Village of Sumber Rejo, Megang Sakti District, Musi Rawas Regency. With the majority of the population depending on the agricultural sector, rice farm worker families faced various economic, social, and environmental challenges that affected their livelihood. This study aimed to understand how rice farm worker families could maintain their lives and well-being despite being in difficult situations. The method used in this study was a qualitative approach with data collection techniques that included in-depth interviews and participatory observations. This research focused on three main aspects of family resilience: belief systems, organizational patterns, and communication processes. The results indicated that a strong belief system, characterized by meaning attributed to misfortune, a positive outlook on life events, and the presence of transcendental beliefs and spirituality, alongside flexibility in family organization through established cooperation patterns, and effective communication, constituted the keys to facing existing challenges. The rice farm worker families in the Village of Sumber Rejo demonstrated a high adaptability in confronting economic difficulties, including poverty, income uncertainty, and climate change impacts. By applying resilience strategies, they supported each other in seeking solutions to the issues encountered, while also maintaining hope and motivation to improve the well-being of rice farm worker families.
