Abstract

The low level of supervision is one of the challenges faced by students who have to live far from their families, which leads them to stay in boarding houses. This change in conditions can make students feel free to engange in activities, including the possibility of sexual activities such as touching, kissing, petting, even sexual intercourse before marriage. The purpose of this study is to analyze whether there is a relationship between the perceptions of boarding students and their attitudes towards prematial sexual prevention. The researcher employed an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The sampled was determined using a probability sampling technique in the form of stratified random sampling, resulting in a total of 88 respondents who met the established inclusion criteria. The research instrument used consists of a questionnaire that includes cognitive perception questionnaires, affective perception questionnaires, and conative perception questionnaires, as well as a questionnaire on attitudes toward prematial sex prevention. The data analysis used for bivariate analysis is the Fisher Exact alternative test. The result of the study indicate that there is no relationship between cognitive, affective, and conative perceptions with attitudes toward prematial sex prevention among students living in boarding house , with a p-value > 0.05.. Essentially, positive perceptions do not always lead to positive attitudes, and conversely, negative perceptions do not necessarily result in negative prevention attitudes. This means that perceptions can influence the formation of an individual’s attitude, so it would be better for an individual to have positive perceptions to form positive prevention attitudes regarding prematial sex.
