Abstract

National health insurance participation among informal sector workers still faces various challenges, especially late payment of contributions which affects membership status. Public transportation drivers have high health risks and irregular income. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the national health insurance participation status of the non-wage earner segment of public transportation drivers in Palembang City. The type of research is a quantitative method with a cross sectional research design and a sample size of 102 angkot drivers selected using stratified random sampling technique. The analysis used was univariate analysis and bivariate (chi square and Phi coefficient). The results of univariate analysis showed that the membership status of public transportation drivers in Palembang City was 53.9% who were actively registered. The results of bivariate analysis showed that the variables of education, income, number of family members, knowledge, attitude, access to health services, perception of JKN membership policies, health conditions had a p-value <0.05 and the age variable had a p-value> 0.05. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the participation status of non-wage earners in public transportation drivers in Palembang City with the variables of education, income, number of family members, knowledge, attitudes, access to health services, perceptions of JKN membership policies, health conditions and have no relationship, namely the age variable, and the variable that has a very strong relationship is income. The Transportation Agency is working with BPJS Kesehatan to educate angkot drivers about the importance of national health insurance participation and the gradual payment plan program for participants who have arrears.
