Abstract
The rapidly growing gaming industry has made user experience (UX) evaluation an important aspect of improving game quality, including for Honor of Kings. Although the game is globally popular, it was only launched in Indonesia in mid-2024. At the time of this study, no UX focused research on this game in Indonesia was found among the top 100 journals listed on Open Knowledge Maps. This study uses the Game-Design Factors Questionnaire (GDFQ) to understand the Honor of Kings gameplay experience from the players’ perspective. A total of 151 active players completed a questionnaire covering 12 game design aspects, such as challenge, control, and social interaction. The results show that aspects like Game Mechanism, Game Goals, Sensation, Interaction, Freedom, Mystery, Sociality, Challenges, and Game Value received "very good" ratings, indicating high levels of player satisfaction. However, Game Fantasy, Narrative, and Flow were only rated as "fair," suggesting shortcomings in story integration, lack of engaging narrative, and an unbalanced gameplay experience that caused players to be less aware of their surroundings while playing.
