Abstract
This research is motivated by the problem of students who have difficulty in building and maintaining quality friendship relationships with their peers. Therefore, guidance and counseling is directed to help overcome these problems through one of the services, namely group guidance using game techniques. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group guidance services with game techniques provided in improving friendship intimacy in seventh grade students at North Indralaya State Junior High School. This research uses quantitative methods with a Quasy Experimental (pretest-posttest) research design. The sample in this study amounted to 24 students who were divided into 12 experimental groups and 12 control groups. The instrument used is a friendship intimacy questionnaire. The results of data analysis using paired sample t-test and independent t-test. From the results of data analysis, it is known that there is a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores in the experimental group (p < 0.05), while in the control group there is no significant change (p> 0.05). This shows that group guidance services with game techniques are effective in improving student friendship intimacy. The game technique proved to be able to create a fun atmosphere and support students to be more open, empathetic and together create positive interactions. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended to counseling teachers to apply game techniques in group guidance as an effort to build more intimate and positive social relationships in the school environment.
