Abstract

Laut Sulawesi merupakan pintu utama masuknya Arus Lintas Indonesia (ARLINDO), yang membawa 15 Sv massa air hangat dan asin dari Samudera Pasifik menuju Samudera Hindia. Penelitian ini dikaitkan dengan kejadian El Nino yang sering terjadi di kawasan Samudera Pasifik. El Nino dikaitkan dengan menguatnya suhu permukaan laut (SPL) di timur Pasifik dan kolam air hangat bergerak ke timur menjauhi perairan Indonesia sedangkan La Nina sebaliknya. Data yang digunakan yakni data argo float tahun 2015-2017 dan pengolahan data dilakukan dengan peraangkat lunak Ocean Data View (ODV) dengan metode core layer. Diagram temperatur dan salinitas digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi massa air yang melewati laut Sulawesi. Dari hasil penelitian teridentifikasi 3 massa air di laut Sulawesi yaitu: Tropical Surface Water (TSW) pada kedalaman <100 m, North Pasific Subtropical Water (NPSW) pada kedalaman 100-300 m, dan North Pasific Intermediet Water (NPIW) pada kedalaman 300-500 m.
