Abstract
The performance of solar panels depends on the amount of solar radiation absorbed, but their efficiency can decrease due to rising temperatures. Heat-absorbing materials have the potential to be used as passive cooling systems for solar panels. Both sugarcane bagasse and coconut coir are known to have significant cellulose content, which can enhance their effectiveness in absorbing heat. Sugarcane bagasse and coconut coir possess good thermal properties and a relatively high heat absorption capacity, making them promising materials for naturally lowering the temperature of solar panels. The high cellulose content in sugarcane bagasse (52.42%) and coconut coir (38.4%) enables them to absorb heat through convection and thermal conduction. The thermal properties of cellulose make it effective in inhibiting temperature rise and absorbing heat energy from the environment, thus helping to maintain a more stable panel temperature—with an efficiency of 19.74% for panels without cooling, compared to 24.05% for panels with sugarcane bagasse and 23.55% for panels with coconut coir. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of sugarcane bagasse and coconut coir as passive cooling materials successfully improves performance efficiency and helps maintain the surface temperature of solar panels.
