Abstract

In the power system Bukit Siguntang Substation, specifically on Power transformer#2 use two type of relay that are overload shedding relays (OLS) and overcurrent relays (OCR). Therefore, a study was conducted to evaluate the protection relay settings for OLS and OCR with the objective of optimizing power distribution using the N-1 Contingency Method. Based on calculation results, the single-phase short-circuit current was found to be 274.26 A, the two-phase short circuit current was 3,221.96 A, and the three-phase short-circuit current was 3,593.47 A. Simulation results using ETAP 19.0.1 with a contingency scenario involving the outage of the Bukit Siguntang Substation transformer showed that the system did not experience overload conditions due to the disturbance. However, the system did exhibit changes in phase angle and a voltage drop. This indicates that although the system continued to operate, it cannot function properly without the transformer. The transformer plays a critical role not only as a power supply source but also in maintaining system balance and regulating voltage within the network.
