Abstract

Background: X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) was a genetic bone disorder that caused dental deformities. Defects in the formation of hard tissues could be analyzed using radiographic imaging. In dentistry, radiographic examination played an important role in diagnosing XLH patients by identifying characteristic radiographic findings of oral cavity pathologies. Objective: This study aimed to support the diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with XLH by identifying characteristic radiographic findings of oral pathologies. Methods: This study was conducted as a systematic review with qualitative analysis of 19 selected journals. The databases used included PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. The obtained journals were selected using PRISMA guidelines and assessed for bias using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP). Results: Qualitative analysis of the 19 studies revealed pathological findings such as pulp chamber and horn enlargement, periapical lesions, enamel mineralization defects, alveolar bone resorption, open apices, taurodontism, decreased alveolar bone density, root resorption, and short root anomalies. Conclusion: Radiographic findings of oral pathologies, such as enlarged pulp chambers, periapical lesions without caries, and enamel mineralization defects, may serve as important indicators to support the diagnosis of XLH and guide appropriate treatment planning. Keywords: dental imaging, oral cavity, pathological findings, x-linked hypophosphatemia
